Under temporary concessions, ELSE has 11 months to conduct feasibility studies for the Tintoc and Vilcabamba plants in Cusco region, and the Pachachaca plant in neighboring Apurímac region.
The operator, controlled by state business financing fund Fonafe, did not immediately respond to a request for information on the plants’ capacities.
Nevertheless, the projects would mirror the power utility’s hydro plants in operation with capacities up to 3MW.
ELSE is the principal electricity supplier in the southeast regions of Cusco, Apurímac and Madre de Dios, and also provides power to Sucre province in Ayacucho region.
