Dear Friend
of SIP: This is just to let you know that we have two huge nights in
the pipeline for September. So that you can put these dates into the
diary, here they are:
Wednesday, September 3: FR
FRANK BRENNAN SJ AO!
Possibly speaking on conscience - but that is to be confirmed.
The main thing is that he will be speaking - and really, it would be
a joy to listen to him on any topic, especially one of his
favourites ... reconciliation, and indigenous rights, social justice
issues and constitutional reform. So, a night not to be missed.
Thursday, September 25: DR
JOHN FALZON (CEO, St Vincent de Paul National Council, Sydney) and
a local person, speaking on poverty and related issues.
Both nights will be at the DUKE, crn
Barrack and Macquarie Streets; meals from 6pm (we are hoping for a special
SIP menu - to be confirmed) and speakers at 7.30pm sharp. Those who are
not eating are asked to be at the venue no later than 7.20pm.
More details will follow. But,
for the moment, we just want to give you as much warning as possible.
Any publicity you can give these nights through other networks would
be greatly appreciated.
The Abbey was a fantastic night -
and these will be too, because you will be there to make them so!
Blessings.

INVITE YOU TO A CONVERSATION DINNER AT THE VENETO CLUB
ON THURSDAY 4 TH SEPTEMBER
Megan McKenna speaking to the theme
"Hope is this thing with wings that always
sings*"
...What is this thing called hope? What is its
substance? And most especially where is it found? Is it a renewable
resource? Is it an annual or does it need to be seeded continuously? It
has wings: what kind---butterfly, mosquito, bird, dragonfly, gnat? Tonight
we will court hope and invite her to join us as a guest for dinner--and
perhaps ask her to move in with us permanently.
Speaker: Megan McKenna is an internationally known
author, lecturer, retreat leader, and spiritual director. She received her
doctorate from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California, and
has taught in Dublin, Ireland, Asia, South America, Chicago, Marshall
Islands, Thailand, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she currently lives.
She is the author of more than thirty books, including
And Morning Came - Scriptures of the Resurrection, Send My Roots Rain, The
New Stations of the Cross, On Your Mark - Reading Mark in the Shadow of
the Cross, and the recently released, Harm Not The Earth.
